And now, finally weeks after Om Raut’s directorial film, ‘Adipurush’, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead role, sparked a controversy over its dialogue for hurting religious sentiments, the writer, Manoj Muntashir has apologised to people today regarding the same. Yes! He did it.
Taking it to social media, Adipurush’s dialogue writer said, “I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.”
Since he has extended his apologies for hurting the sentiments of people, his post evoked mixed reactions from netizens, as many of them feel that it is too late now to seek an apology.
In his post, “You are too late to apologise,” a social media user said.
Om Raut’s magnum opus film, which is an adaptation of Ramayana, has faced flak from moviegoers, audiences and viewers post its release. Several expressed disappointment over certain dialogues which landed in a controversy. Among the dialogues over which the makers have drawn heavy criticism are ‘Marega Bete‘, ‘Bua Ka Bagicha Hain Kya‘, and ‘Jalegi Tere Baap Ki‘.
Amid this, the makers of the film were in huge trouble. That’s not it, Manoj had requested protection from Mumbai Police, citing a threat to his life. Then, Mumbai Police did it and said that they are probing the matter.
The Adipursh row doesn’t end here, the cinema’s body, All India Cine Workers Association wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Mumbai Police, demanding the registration of a case against the producer, director, and writer of the film.
In fact, the backlash surrounding Adipurush brought the 1987 Ramayan back to the small screen as disappointed audiences compared the film to the hit show.
