The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, is currently underway, marking Hollywood's much-anticipated night. Notably, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer has earned a remarkable 13 nominations, generating buzz and excitement on social media platform X. However, amidst the celebration, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has taken to the digital realm to express his discontent with the Oscars.

Over the weekend, Musk shared a series of posts, each echoing his dissatisfaction with the prestigious awards ceremony. In one of his recent posts, Musk commented, "Winning an Oscar now just means you won the woke contest." The term "woke," as defined by Cambridge Dictionary, denotes being aware, especially of social problems such as racism and inequality. Interestingly, Musk had previously criticized "wokeness," stating it aims to make "comedy illegal."

Further elaborating on his stance, Musk asserted in the same thread, "When an award is diluted, everyone knows, including those who received it, and it no longer commands respect."

In response to Musk's comments, social media users engaged in mockery and criticism. One user quipped, "You’re just upset you’ll never win one," while another expressed frustration, stating, "Most watched documentary of the year and zero chance they’d ever consider a nomination for our documentary because we aren’t woke." Meanwhile, Musk faced skepticism from users who questioned his understanding of the Oscars and the criteria for nominations.

Amid the online discourse, a user highlighted the essence of the Oscars, emphasizing, "Winning an Oscar isn't about being 'woke'; it's about being the best." The user urged against turning the platform into a hub for conspiracy theories, emphasizing that the awards recognize those who push boundaries, provoke thought, and excel in their craft as industry standards evolve.
