Delhi: Ed Sheeran, the British pop sensation known for chart-topping hits like "Shape of You" and "Perfect," wowed thousands of fans at the Leisure Valley Ground in Gurugram on Saturday. His performance marked the final stop of his highly anticipated Mathematics Tour in India, and he certainly did not disappoint.
One of the most memorable moments of the night came when Ed Sheeran donned the Indian cricket team’s official jersey on stage, delighting his Delhi NCR audience. The gesture was a show of support ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 in the UAE. Sporting a T-shirt with black pants, he took to Instagram to thank the crowd, which responded with loud applause and cheers.
Ed Sheeran's surprise was met with enthusiastic reactions from fans on social media. A fan shared a clip of the moment on X (formerly Twitter), jokingly suggesting, "Give Ed Sheeran his Aadhaar, Pan, and Ration card. Look at him ace the Dream 11 jersey. India love." Another user tweeted, “He is phenomenal,” while one fan humorously demanded, "Give him an Indian passport right now."

The evening kicked off with singer-actor Lisa Mishra, who warmed up the crowd with her engaging performance. After a brief wait, Ed Sheeran took the stage and kicked things off with his iconic song "Castle on the Hill." Following the performance, he spoke to the crowd about his past tours and his desire to perform in different cities across India.
"Back in 2015, the first time I came to tour India, we played in Mumbai. The next time we came, we played in Mumbai, and the next time we came, we played in Mumbai. The last time, I said, 'Why don't we play anywhere else?' So here we are, performing in cities across India," Ed shared.
Ed’s tour began in Pune on January 30 and took him through cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Shillong before arriving in Delhi. Reflecting on his time in the capital, he mentioned shooting videos in various parts of the city. "We went to Old Delhi yesterday... What a place! Thank you so much for having me here in your beautiful country," he said.
Throughout the concert, Ed Sheeran performed a series of fan favorites, including "Thinking Out Loud," "Photograph," "You Need Me, I Don’t Need You," "Take It Back," and "Give Me Love." At one point, during "Happier," Ed paused after noticing a fan had fainted in the crowd. After ensuring the person received help, he returned to the stage just a minute later to continue the show. To close the evening, Ed performed "Perfect," met with thunderous applause, followed by his global hit "Shape of You." As the opening beats played, the crowd erupted in excitement, singing every lyric in unison.
