Divorce Drove Aamir to Drink: One Bottle Daily for 18 Months, Alone for Two Years

Veteran Bollywood actor Aamir Khan needs no introduction, he is not only known for his acting but also for producing many hit films like 'Taare Zameen Par' and 'Dangal'. During one of the interviews, the actor shared some of his personal life experiences, in which he shared that he got into depression when he got divorced from his wife Reena an and started having alcohol.

From Divorce to Despair
Recently, on his 60th birthday, Aamir introduced the world to his girlfriend Gauri Spratt.  Aamir recently told in an interview that after getting intoxicated with alcohol, he started thinking of himself as Devdas (Shahrukh Khan's character in the film Devdas). He drank alcohol for one and a half years and spent time alone at home.

After divorce from Reena, he drank alcohol for one and a half year
Aamir Khan told in an interview to Instant Bollywood that after his divorce from Reena, he got drunk and drank a lot for one and a half years. Aamir said, "When Reena and I broke up, I was in mourning for two to three years. I was not able to work. I did not even listen to the script. I did not work at all. I used to stay alone at home. Alone. I stayed alone for two years. For one and a half years, I only drank alcohol. I did not touch alcohol, but when Reena and I separated, I did not understand what to do at night. So I started drinking alcohol."

The actor further said, "So the man who did not drink alcohol at all, started drinking a whole bottle the next day. There is Devdas, right Devdas, I was Devdas. Exactly Devdas. The man who was trying to destroy himself, I used to drink so much alcohol. I did that for one and a half years. I could not sleep at night and drinking alcohol seemed to be the only solution to it. I was in deep depression."

After marriage, both became parents of daughter Ayra Khan and son Junaid Khan. But both got divorced in the year 2002. After this, Aamir married Kiran Rao for the second time in the year 2005. Both had a son Azad Rao Khan. But in 2021, Aamir also divorced Reena.
