The highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie will see Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy stepping back into the iconic shoes of Tommy Shelby, the charismatic leader of the Shelby family gang. 

The news was confirmed by Steven Knight, during a recent interview at the premiere of his new BBC show. Knight expressed his excitement about Murphy's return, stating, "He definitely is returning for it. We’re shooting it in September, just down the road in Digbeth."

Cillian Murphy's portrayal of Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders has earned him widespread acclaim and recognition. Fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting his return to the role, especially after his outstanding performance in Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer. Knight praised Murphy's professionalism and talent, emphasising his well-deserved success and numerous award wins. "It was so deserved. I mean, he’s brilliant, and he’s such a great human being," Knight remarked.

Peaky Blinders Movie Release Details

While the exact release date of the Peaky Blinders movie is yet to be announced, production is scheduled to begin in September 2024. This development indicates that audiences can expect the movie to hit theaters sometime in 2025.

Cillian Murphy has previously expressed his willingness to continue portraying Tommy Shelby as long as the script maintains the high standards of the series. "If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there. Let’s do it," Murphy mentioned in discussions with Variety.
