Actress Celina Jaitly recently took a stand against derogatory statements made by a Pakistani journalist, Umair Sandu, who falsely claimed that the actress had a relationship with the late actor Feroz Khan and his son Fardeen Khan.

Now, in a detailed letter, Celina revealed that she reported the matter to the National Commission of Women (NCW), which took her complaint seriously and sent a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The MEA, in turn, raised the issue with the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, urging an ‘immediate investigation and action’.

Pak journalist insults Celina Jaitly with false Feroz-Fardeen rumours

The war of words between Celina and the Pakistani film critic unfolded on Twitter a few months ago when Umair Sandu posted offensive tweets about Celina. “Celina Jaitley is the only actress in Bollywood who slept with both father (Feroz Khan) and son (Fardeen Khan) many times,” Sandu had tweeted. In response, she not only called him out but also sought support from her fans and colleagues.

In her Twitter post, Celina wrote, “A few months ago, a self-proclaimed Hindi film critic and journalist from Pakistan named Umair Sandu took to Twitter to make viral untrue horrific claims about me which included bizarre allegations like my relations with both my mentor Feroz Khan and his son Fardeen, in addition, he made claims targeting me and my family’s safety and security even in Austria.”

The actress emphasised the severity of the situation, stating, “My response to his harassment and fake claims from Pakistan went viral and garnered support from millions of Twitterati, including Pakistani nationals who were appalled at his behaviour.”

Despite Umair Sandu changing his online locations, he was found to be hiding in Pakistan, the post said. Celina decided to take legal action and sought intervention from the NCW, which proved to be effective in raising the matter to the MEA.

“The Commission has received a positive response from the MEA communicated via letter. The Ministry views the incident with the utmost seriousness and has raised the matter with the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi seeking an immediate investigation and action on the incident,” Celina said.

The actress then expressed her gratitude to NCW chief Rekha Sharma and Kushbu Sundar for their support throughout the process.

In response to Celina’s tweet, NCW chief Rekha Sharma praised her efforts and urged her to take care. Celina, in turn, thanked Rekha Sharma and Kushbu Sundar, recognising their impactful work in advocating for women’s issues on a significant scale.

Interestingly, Celina Jaitly made her acting debut in the film ‘Janasheen’ (2003), which was directed by Feroz Khan and featured his son Fardeen Khan in the lead.
