Poonam Pandey is still among us; yes, she is alive! The model-actress declared that she was still alive and that cervical cancer "didn't claim" her following a demanding day. She was chastised by incensed social media users for employing this promotional tactic.
A post on Poonam Pandey's Instagram page on February 2 shocked the country. Poonam's team stated in the note that she passed away from cervical cancer. On February 3, Poonam uploaded a video on Instagram to confirm her survival and share awareness about cervical cancer, which raised suspicions given recent videos of the actor partying that went viral. She was criticised for the death hoax by most social media users; therefore, her tactic didn't work effectively.
They posted comments such as, "Next time people won't take you seriously, you just destroyed your entire credibility," "This was the most ridiculous way to promote something," and "Exploiting a serious issue like cervical cancer for cheap publicity is absolutely disgraceful. Using your platform to spread awareness is commendable, but faking your own death is a new low. Respect for real survivors and victims matters more than attention-seeking stunts. #Disappointed," "That fake wolf story got real," and many others.
TV actor Goni wrote, "F***ing cheap
publicity stunt it was nothing else.. u guys think it's funny ? U and ur PR team should be boycotted I swear.. bloody losers and to all the media portals we people here trust u that's y we believed it.. shame on u all ."
Singer and former "Bigg Boss" contestant Vaidya said he never believed in the news that Pandey died from cervical cancer.
"And I was right!! Now that Poonam is alive, I can surely say RIP PR/ marketing. New low of creating a sensational/viral campaign... welcome to KALYUG," he posted.
Nikki Tamboli said, "Absolute cheapness! It's disheartening to witness the depths some individuals will sink to for a momentary spotlight. Faking one's death, especially in the context of a serious illness like cancer, is not just tasteless but downright disrespectful. It trivialises the very real struggles that millions face worldwide and breaks the trust of those who genuinely care. Let's not reward such attention-seeking behavior with our attention."
Pandey also received criticism from Sherlyn Chopra, "Height of shamelessness & insensitivity!!!" Chopra said on X.
Following Poonam Pandey's team's original declaration regarding her passing, the actor-model announced her return to life in a video that was released on February 3. She also wrote about the deaths caused by cervical cancer. Her message on social media said,
"I feel compelled to share something significant with you all—I am here, alive. Cervical cancer didn’t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this disease."
