British singer and songwriter, Faye Fantarrow died at the age of 21 on August 26. Her death was first announced on social media by her mother, Pam, on August 31. After battling a rare glioma brain tumour diagnosis in September 2022, Fantarrow succumbed to her illness at home on Saturday.

The singer battled leukemia twice throughout her childhood when she was 8 and 13-years-old since the discovery of her illness. In September last year, the doctors discovered a rare Glioma tumor in her brain. He posted about her illness on ‘X’ (twitter) to let her fans know about her health problem last November.

She was a budding British singer-songwriter who released her debut single this year in February. The young artist was produced by Eurythmics star Dave Stewart who signed her from his hometown of Sunderland, England, and oversaw the release of the seven-song AWOL in February through his label, Bay Street Records.

Dave Stewart says Faye was like ‘a diamond stuck in his head’

Dave expressed his grief on losing a budding talent like Faye and said that she was a true artist in every sense. He also went on to say that he will never forget the time he spent working with Faye.

“I can’t put into words how devastated I was when, just after spending an amazing creative time with Faye last summer making her debut album, Faye found out she had this very aggressive brain tumor,” Stewart said in a statement

“Being with her and watching her at work is a diamond stuck in my head, moments I will never forget,” said the former Eurythmics singer.

He also added “ I’m lucky to have met Faye and her Mum Pam, two humans together battling against all odds for Faye’s survival. It has been both traumatic and beautiful to witness their strength and dignity, and I am so sorry the world only got to witness Faye’s genius for such a short time. She is one of the true greats, a northern girl on fire with her lyrics and melodies. I loved her deeply.”

Faye who was born on April 28, 2002, was also recognised by BBC Music Introducing as One to Watch and won the Alan Hull Songwriting Award in 2021, as per media reports. She was also compared to singers Alessia Cara and even Adele by Joe Lynch for Billboard in a review
