Filmmaker Vishal Punjabi, known as the filmmaker, has had an insider's view of several high-profile celebrity weddings over the years. He shared a particularly scandalous experience, which involved a major Bollywood star and his wife.

During an interview on the DJ Simz YouTube channel, Vishal was asked if he had ever filmed a wedding that ended in divorce. His response was both surprising and revealing. "That happened with a celebrity," he began. "Two months after their wedding, he was cheating on her. He was caught red-handed with a Bollywood actress in his makeup van, on a Bollywood set. His wife walks in and catches him naked, and says, ‘I don’t want your wedding film.'"

Aftermath of the scandal

Vishal recounted the chaos that followed. "I'm calling the groom, he's not picking up. I'm calling the bride, and she's like, 'Don’t talk to me, I don't want the wedding film!' So then, I call up his manager, and he's like, 'Bro, man, it's not happening, we don't want the film.' I was like, 'What do I do? Do I sell it to Netflix?'" Vishal explained that he had not been fully paid for his services, and this incident led him to change his business policies. "Back then, I used to have a contract that said 50% before and 50% after I give you the film. After this incident, I was like, 'This is about the heart, marriage, life, and family, and I'm going to charge you 100% before I come.'"

Who is the celebrity involved

Vishal still has the footage from the ill-fated wedding, but he decided not to pursue the pending payment. "In the film, the groom is crying, saying, 'I love you, baby'. You know they're fake crocodile tears."

However, he refrained from taking the name of the celebrity. "He's a big Bollywood actor. Can’t take names, but damn… The value I have of that footage is worth millions. It’s a comedy film. I could sell it and make a lot of money," he said. Looking directly into the camera, he added, "You know who you are!"

Vishal Punjabi has built a reputation for capturing the essence of love in his wedding films. He has worked with several celebrity couples, including Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra. Before entering into wedding filmmaking, Vishal spent a decade working with Shah Rukh Khan at Red Chillies Entertainment.
