Bear Grylls, the famous adventurer and survivalist known around the world for his television show ‘Man vs Wild’, has sent his desi fans crazy after posting a picture on Twitter where he is wearing a ‘lungi’.

The lungi is a lower garment for men that is popular in the Indian subcontinent. Variations of the lungi are worn in South India, and in eastern areas such as West Bengal, Odisha, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. It is also worn in some places in Punjab and Haryana.

In the tweet, Grylls tells his fans that the picture was taken from ‘an epic Scottish adventure’. He asked his fans to guess the guest he was talking to in the picture.

The post has gone viral in India and Bangladesh and has been viewed more than 138K times in less than 24 hours.

From Neil Oliver to Rajinikanth, fans try to guess new guest

Bear Grylls’ fans have been racking their brains, trying to guess the person that he was talking to wearing the Indian garment. While his British fans have been naming names such as Ewan McGregor, Neil Oliver, Russel Brand, Stephen Fry, and Richard Branson, his desi fans have been name-dropping Virat Kohli, Rajinikanth, and others.

Many fans from Tamil Nadu, where the ‘lungi’ is popular, commented ‘Thalaiva’ under the post – a reference to superstar Rajinikanth.

Many foreigners were confused by the lower garment in the picture and commented asking about it. People from India and Bangladesh answered in the comments.

Bear Grylls is deeply connected with India, having interviewed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and superstar Akshay Kumar. He has also trained with the Indian Army and climbed many peaks in the Himalayas.
