Just a day after the actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol was served with an e-auction notice for his villa in Mumbai’s Juhu area, now it has been withdrawn, said the state-owned Bank of Baroda on Monday.

For those who are unaware, Sunny Deol’s property was put on the block by the Bank of Baroda on Sunday to recover the loan dues of ₹56 crore by e-auction scheduled for August 25. He has been in default on a ₹55.99 crore load for the bank since December 2022.

In an official statement, the Bank of Baroda said, “Corrigendum to e-auction notice with regards to sale auction notice in respect of Ajay Singh Deol alias Sunny Deol stands withdrawn due to technical reasons.”

Earlier, the bank said that the Juhu property known as ‘Sunny Villa’ would commence at ₹51.43 crore. The minimum bid amount was set at ₹5.14 crore.

Apart from this villa, the 599.44 square meter property, which includes Sunny Villa and Sunny Sounds, was also set to be auctioned off by the bank. Sunny Sounds is a company owned by the Deols, and it is the corporate guarantor for the loan. Dharmendra, who is also actor-politician father, is the personal guarantor.

Furthermore, the notice said that Deols can only settle their outstanding dues with the bank to prevent the auction from being held under the provisions of the SARFAESI Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, the sudden decision of pulling off the auction has created a buzz on the internet. The opposition has taken a swipe at this move.
