Arleen Sorkin, the popular American actress who was popularly known for lending her voice to the iconic DC character Harley Quinn, passed away at the age of 67. She passed away on August 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy in both the animation and television industries, respectively.
The current co-head of DC, James Gunn, took to the internet and shared the news on his Instagram handle. James dedicated a post to the memory of Sorkin. The post read, “Rest in Peace, Arleen Sorkin, the incredibly talented original voice of Harley Quinn, who helped to create the character so many of us love. Love to her family and friends”.
Another pop culture icon Mark Hamil, who often voiced the Joker, another Iconic DC character, also remembered her in a tribute and wrote, “Devastated to learn we’ve lost the brilliant Arleen Sorkin. Not just a wonderful talent, but a truly wonderful person. I’m grateful not only to have worked with her but to have been her friend. Sending my heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones”, on his handle at X, formerly known as Twitter.

From 1984 through 2010, Sorkin played Calliope Jones on the NBC serial opera “Days of Our Lives.” She Wasn’t able to act in recent years due to health difficulties. The cause of her death was not revealed.
Arleen made the headlines as the first voice actor to portray Harley Quinn, the Joker’s lover and accomplice, in “Batman: The Animated Series” in 1992. She began her career in television in 1982 by appearing as a background actor on ‘Saturday Night Live’. She later went on to appear in ‘Open House’ (1989), ‘Dream On’ (1990), and ‘Perry Mason: The Case of the Killer Kiss’.
She also reprised her roles in other shows like ‘Superman: The Animated Series’, ‘Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker’, ‘Gotham Girls’, ‘Justice League’ and more.
