Arijit Singh started his journey at the age of 18 from a reality TV show and became an overnight sensation with his song ‘Tum Hi Ho’ in 2011. It is said that luck favours hard work and Arijit’s journey in the music industry is a proof of that. Arijit began his musical career with a television reality show, ‘Gurukul’. Though he secured sixth position in the show, his voice caught the attention of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who offered to collaborate with him. He kept his promise, but eventually, the renditions never made to a film.
Finally, in 2011, the love anthem of the movie ‘Aashiqui 2’ gave rise to the birth of an overnight star Arijit! Since then, there is no looking back for him. Reportedly, he is the only Bollywood vocalist to win five Filmfare Awards in a row from 2016 to 2020.
