AR Rahman slaps Rs 10 crore defamation suit against surgeon’s association

Academy Award winner AR Rahman finds himself in the midst of another controversy after his Conecrt in Chennai was criticised for poor management Association of Surgeons of India (ASICON) registered a complaint against Rahman, alleging that he received a sum of Rs 29 lakh for a concert and never conducted one. However, he has denied all the allegations against him.

Rahman’s September concert in Chennai saw many complaints of molestation, stampede-like-situation and fake tickets. Moreover, due to overcrowding many people who had already booked the tickets way earlier were denied entry.

The musician and his team have responded to these allegations by rejecting them and demanding a sum of Rs 10 crore as compensation for trying to defame him.

AR Rahman responds to allegations

Rahman sent a legal notice to ASICON asking them to take back the complaint against him within a period of 3 days. Rejecting all the allegations, he said that there were third parties involved whom he was not aware of.

The legal notice mentioned that the association has to give an unconditional apology for maligning AR Rahman’s reputation. Moreover, Rahman’s counsel demanded the association to pay Rs 10 crore as compensation for defaming him adding that legal action would be taken against the association if they fail to pay the compensation.

As per the complaint, the famed musician is supposed to have received an amount of Rs 29 lakh in 2018 for an event but Rahman never conducted the show and the money was not returned as well.
