Another ‘Sanatan Dharma’ controversy is now taking the rounds of the internet. But, this time it's not about any politician. So, you would be thinking, who is next in the row? Well, it's none other than Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who reportedly was involved in the Mahadev Betting App case with many others including Shraddha Kapoor. This time, he has been accused of allegedly hurting religious sentiments and insulting ‘Sanatan Dharma’, referring to a Christmas celebration video clip.

Ranbir Kapoor in legal trouble over his Christmas video

The Christmas party became a bombshell to the actor after two advocates in Mumbai complained to the Ghatkopar police station against Ranbir and his family regarding the same.

The complaint was registered by advocate Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra refers to a viral video of Ranbir Kapoor in which he is seen lighting a cake and saying "Jai Mata Di" while someone had poured wine on it.

During the Christmas bash, Ranbir Kapoor, along with his immediate and extended family, was seen at the annual Christmas lunch at Kunal Kapoor’s residence.

What is the viral video?

In the viral video, Kunal Kapoor can be seen sitting in front of the Christmas cake while Zahan Kapoor, who made his debut with ‘Faraaz’ earlier this year, pours wine over it. After he is done, Ranbir Kapoor lights up the cake and says ‘Jai Mata Di.’

The complainant, a member of the Hindu group Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Sena, accused the Kapoor family of deliberately using intoxicants and chanting 'Jai Mata Di' while celebrating Christmas.

Did Ranbir hurt religious sentiments?

They stated this offended their religious feelings as Hindus, claiming the video could disrupt law and order if circulated.

The complaint seeks FIR against Ranbir Kapoor under sections 295A, 298, 500 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. It argues the entire Kapoor family visible in the video should be penalised as it was a collective celebration.

However, Mumbai Police have not registered any case so far based on the complaint lodged against the actor.
