Akshay Kumar’s much awaited film OMG 2 is facing heat from the Adipurush controversy, as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has sent it before a review committee to take a look at its dialogues and scenes.

As per reports, the censor board will take preemptive measures to make sure that the dialogues and scenes in the film ‘do not create any issues’ – in a move that is influenced by the massive controversy caused by Adipurush.

While the film is slated to be released on August 11, it is temporarily put on hold until the censor board completes its review and clears the film. It is not clear if the release date will change because of this move by the CBFC.

Censor Board will look to avoid Adipurush fiasco with OMG 2

The move has been influenced by the massive backlash faced by Adipurush, which was criticised for a range of problems – allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments, mocking deities by writing inappropriate dialogues, cartoonish costumes and character designs, and more. Dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir was forced to tender an ‘unconditional apology’ for ‘hurting people’s sentiments’.

In a measure to avoid any such fiasco, the Censor Board will ‘[look] over at the dialogues and scenes in the film’, as per a source quoted by India Today.

“CBFC does not want to repeat the backlash that Adipurush faced over its dialogues,” according to the source.

The Censor Board, for now on, will send any movie dealing with sensitive subjects like god and religion for preemptive review and revision, the source confirmed.
