The jet-set life of an actor often ends with images of luxury lounges and seamless connections. But for acclaimed actress Radhika Apte, a recent journey took a sharp turn into the frustrating reality faced by travelers caught in airport chaos. On an unnamed flight earlier today, Apte and her fellow passengers found themselves trapped in an airport's purgatory—an aerobridge—for hours, denied access to basic human needs like water and even restrooms!

What really happened?

The saga began with a delayed flight, a familiar travel bugbear. But the situation morphed into something far more disconcerting when boarding transitioned into an unexpected lockdown. Confined within the glass-walled corridor, with the outside world tantalisingly close yet impossibly out of reach, the passengers, including Apte, felt a tide of unease rise with each passing hour.
The 'Sacred Games' actor posted images and videos to Instagram, claiming that after the flight was delayed, the passengers were locked in the aerobridge by airline officials.

Here's Radhika's take on the debacle

"Today morning I had a flight at 8:30. It's 10:50 now, and the flight has still not boarded. But the flight said we were boarding and put all the passengers in the aerobridge and locked it," she said.
"The passengers with small babies and elderly people have been locked in for over an hour. The security won't open the doors. The staff has absolutely no clue," she added.

Mishhap or mistake?

A video showing multiple people behind a barred glass door was released by Radhika Apte. On the aerobridge, a few people could be seen conversing with the security personnel.

The Bollywood actor, 38, claimed that the airlines told the passengers they would be delayed for at least an additional hour.
"Now I'm locked inside. And they just told us that we will be here until at least 12 p.m., all locked in. No water, no loo. Thanks for the fun ride," she wrote.

The actor claimed that the airline personnel had explained the delay as a result of having to replace the crew and that they still hadn't shown up.
"Apparently, their crew hasn't boarded. The crew had a change, and they are still waiting for a new crew, but they have no idea when they will arrive, so no one knows how long they'll be locked inside. I managed to escape briefly to speak to the very stupid staff woman outside who kept saying there was no issue and no delay," she wrote.

Bottomline!

Though the specifics of Apte's airport ordeal may fade, the issues it raised will hopefully echo in the halls of airline boardrooms and regulatory bodies. Let her story be a catalyst for positive change, ensuring that every journey, even under the most trying circumstances, prioritises the well-being and fundamental rights of every passenger, famous or otherwise.
