Entertainment: After a successful theatrical run, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s action-packed film Daaku Maharaaj is set to make its OTT debut. Streaming giant Netflix announced that the film will be available from February 21. However, the promotional poster sparked an unexpected controversy—leading actress Urvashi Rautela was noticeably absent, triggering a wave of reactions from fans.
On Sunday, Netflix took to Instagram to share the official OTT release poster, featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath. However, Urvashi Rautela, who played a significant role in the film, was missing. The caption read, “We would just like to say pranaam maharaj. Watch Daaku Maharaaj, out on 21 Feb on Netflix!”
Fans were quick to notice Urvashi's exclusion, and social media was soon flooded with humorous and sarcastic comments. One user quipped, “But where is the lead actress?” while another joked, “India’s first woman to be removed from a 105+ crore film poster.” Another fan wrote, “@urvashirautela you were in this movie, right? Can’t see you on the poster.” Some even referenced her love for luxury watches, commenting, “Where is Miss Rolex?” Urvashi Rautela had actively promoted Daaku Maharaaj and frequently boasted about its success. However, she also faced criticism for flaunting an expensive watch while discussing the film’s ₹100 crore box office collection and mentioning concerns for Saif Ali Khan.
Daaku Maharaaj is a high-octane Telugu action-drama directed by Bobby Kolli and backed by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, Urvashi Rautela, Rishi, Chandini Chowdary, Pradeep Rawat, Sachin Khedekar, Shine Tom Chacko, Viswant Duddumpudi, Aadukalam Naren, and Ravi Kishan. Despite facing backlash over the song Dabidi Dibidi, featuring Urvashi and Balakrishna, the film proved to be a massive success, earning ₹90 crore in India and ₹125.8 crore worldwide, as per Sacnilk reports. With its Netflix release just around the corner, Daaku Maharaaj continues to stay in the spotlight, not just for its action-packed narrative but now for an unexpected promotional controversy.
