The Bikaner police in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Rajasthan reported the detention of Usman Ghani, the ousted former district president of the BJP's minority morcha, for 'breach of peace,' placing him under preventive custody. He was arrested on Saturday.
Ghani's recent notoriety stemmed from a viral video on social media where he criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks during a Banswara rally. Subsequently, the BJP expelled Ghani due to his remarks against the Prime Minister.
The Bikaner police detailed that Ghani's preventive custody followed his confrontation and misbehavior with police personnel at the Mukta Prasad Nagar police station.

Dhirendra Shekhawat, SHO of Mukta Prasad Nagar police station stated that a police vehicle previously visited Ghani's residence as a routine safety check post his controversial statements, which led to criticism and reactions. On the day of his detention, Ghani confronted police officials, resulting in his preventive custody under section 151 CrPC to avert potential legal violations.
In an interview with News24, Ghani expressed his disappointment with PM Modi's remarks in Banswara, highlighting his role as a Muslim BJP member facing community queries during electoral campaigns, drawing opposition criticism of Modi's speech.
As Ghani's video circulated on social media, PTI reported BJP state disciplinary committee chairman Onkar Singh Lakhawat's statement condemning Ghani's act as a means to 'tarnish' the party's image, resulting in Ghani's expulsion from the BJP for six years for breaching discipline. On the other hand, Vijay Acharya, Bikaner city district BJP president, confirmed Ghani's expulsion amidst ongoing political dynamics. Notably, Lok Sabha election was conducted in the first phase in Bikaner on April 19.
