As citizens across the nation exercise their voting rights for the 18th Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the first phase witnesses enthusiastic participation in West Bengal. Notably, West Bengal ministers Shashi Panja and Chandrima Bhattacharya were spotted celebrating at the Trinamool Congress headquarters in Kolkata, expressing confidence in the victory of TMC candidates in the ongoing elections.

Confident declarations amidst festive atmosphere

Addressing the media, Chandrima Bhattacharya asserted, "BJP has understood that they are losing." She emphasized the alleged deprivation of rights faced by the people of West Bengal and expressed certainty in TMC's success across the Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri constituencies. Amidst music and dance, the ministers exuded optimism regarding the electoral outcome.

As polling progresses, reports indicate a substantial voter turnout, with 77.57% recorded till 5 PM in West Bengal. The active participation of citizens underscores the significance of the electoral process and reflects their commitment to democracy.
