North East Delhi seat: Kanhaiya Kumar loses grip, Manoj Tiwari inches closer to securing victory

After witnessing a high-voltage electioneering for the last couple of months, Kanhaiya Kumar lags behind Manoj Tiwari contesting from North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat.

The seat holds immense importance for both the candidates, one representing BJP while the other Congress. Results will be soon out, deciding the fate of these two political competitors. For the last two terms, Manoj Tiwari has been winning the seat, expecting another big victory. As per the latest data, he is leading by 1.25 lakh votes.

About Kanhaiya Kumar

A doctorate holder, Kanhaiya hails from Begusarai district in Bihar. Just a few days back he was allegedly attacked by two men for his 'anti-national slogans' that he had delivered when he was a student at Delhi's prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru (JNU).

Kanhaiya, who was born in 1987, was involved in student politics while he was a student at the Patna College of Commerce. He completed his graduation with a degree in geography and got a doctorate in African Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

He had emerged as a prominent face of leftist ideology, was actively involved in political activism and had shared the stage with young leaders like Jignesh Mevani and Hardik Patel at political rallies. 

He is known for his political acumen, brilliant oratory and leadership qualities. He has also served as elected President of the JNU students' Union and had previously lost from Begusarai's seat in the last Lok Sabha elections where he was fielded against BJP veteran Giriraj Singh.
