New Delhi: A Delhi court has reserved its order until June 5 on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals bail plea in a money laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise scam. Kejriwal, currently on interim bail until June 1, filed two separate bail applications before the Rouse Avenue Court. The first application seeks regular bail in the Enforcement Directorate (ED)s case regarding the Delhi liquor scam, while the second application seeks a seven-day extension of interim bail on medical grounds.Kejriwals plea will end on June 1 Kejriwals interim bail is set to expire on June 1, coinciding with the conclusion of the last phase of the Lok Sabha polls. This means Kejriwal will need to surrender on Sunday if no extension is granted. During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Raju highlighted that the Supreme Courts order allows Kejriwal to file only for regular bail, not for an interim bail extension.Enforcement Directorates standThe ED representative argued that, according to the Supreme Courts directive, bail is only valid if the individual is in custody, thus invalidating Kejriwals interim bail application since he is not currently in custody. The ED also accused Kejriwal of withholding information about the specific medical tests he needs.Appeals in Supreme CourtPreviously, Kejriwal sought an extension of his interim bail from the Supreme Court, citing the necessity for medical tests, including a PET-CT scan. He mentioned in his plea that he lost seven kilograms while in jail and had elevated ketone levels, indicating potential health issues. However, the Supreme Court registry refused an urgent listing of his plea, noting that Kejriwal has the liberty to move the trial court for bail.As the Delhi court deliberates on his bail plea, Kejriwals legal and medical concerns remain unresolved.
