S Damodaran, the Padma Shri awardee, was an accomplished Indian mathematician known for his significant contributions to the field of number theory. 

While all the significant leaders are campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, a Padma Shri awardee who is contesting as an independent candidate in the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha constituency was recently seen campaigning by interacting with vegetable vendors, making flower garlands and selling vegetables.

S Damodaran, 62, who hails from Tiruchirappalli was recently seen seeking votes in the city’s Gandhi market from the local vendors. Notably, his party symbol is a gas stove.

"I am an Independent candidate from Trichy constituency. I am the son of the soil. I belong to Trichy City. I have been working in the sanitation sector as an Associate Service volunteer for more than 40 years. I started my career at the age of 21. Now I am 62. At the age of 60, I got the Padma Shree award from then President of India Ram Nath Kovind for my work in the sanitation sector," Damodaran said while speaking to ANI.
