Lok Sabha Elections: The upcoming election for the Etawah Lok Sabha seat has taken an unexpected turn with Mridula Katheria, the wife of BJP candidate Ram Shankar Katheria, throwing her hat in the ring by filing her nomination. This bold move has intensified the already heated political climate as Mridula Katheria gears up to contest against her husband.

Mridula Katheria's decision to contest as an independent candidate in Lok Sabha constituency 41 has caught many by surprise. Expressing her thoughts to the media, she emphasized the essence of democracy and the freedom it offers to all individuals.

Unprecedented move

In the backdrop of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Ram Shankar Katheria, the BJP candidate and sitting MP for Etawah, found himself at a loss for words as his own wife emerged as his competitor. Mridula Katheria, not deterred by familial ties, stood firm in her decision to contest against her husband, marking a rare occurrence in the political landscape.

Asserting freedom and choice

Addressing the media after filing her nomination papers, Mridula Katheria reiterated the principles of democracy, emphasizing the right of every citizen to participate in the electoral process. While acknowledging the uniqueness of the situation, she affirmed her commitment to the electoral battle.

History repeats itself

This isn't the first time Mridula Katheria has taken such a bold step. In the 2019 elections, she had also filed her nomination against her husband, only to withdraw later. However, this time, her resolve appears steadfast as she stands her ground in the face of political dynamics.

Election dynamics in Etawah

Meanwhile, Ram Shankar Katheria, a seasoned politician and former Union Minister in the Modi government, continues his bid for the Etawah Lok Sabha seat, marking his third electoral campaign in the constituency.

Political discourse

Amidst the electoral fervor, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP, urging voters to scrutinize the party's claims and actions. Accusing the BJP of fostering corruption and criminality, Yadav emphasized the need to uphold democratic values and constitutional principles.
