The updated voter turnout in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election was estimated to be more than the turnout recorded in 2019. The Election Commission on Friday released the latest figures regarding voting in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections. In this phase, 69.58 percent of the 8.97 crore male voters and 68.73 percent of the 8.73 crore female voters voted. However, this breaks the trend of the earlier three phase of elections in which a dip in turnout was recorded compared to 2019 elecions. Fourth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024In fact, voting took place on May 13 in the fourth round of seven-phase elections on 96 Lok Sabha seats with 17.7 crore voters. In this phase, the number of women in voting at polling stations in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal was more than men. Voting took place in nine states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on May 13.Highest voter turnout According to the Election Commission, voting in the fourth phase was 69.16 percent, which is 3.65 percentage points more than the same phase in the 2019 parliamentary elections. The voting figures for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections stood at 65.68 percent. There was 68.4 percent voting in the third phase of 2019 elections. 66.71 percent voting took place in the second phase of 2024 elections, while 69.64 percent voting took place in the second phase of 2019. In the first phase of the ongoing general elections on April 19, 66.14 percent voting was recorded. In the 2019 elections, there was 69.43 percent voting in the first phase.Lok Sabha Elections 2024Lok Sabha Elections are being held in India from April 19 to June 1, 2024.
