Himachal Pradesh's Security Measures Ahead of Elections

In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Himachal Pradesh's law enforcement agencies are intensifying security measures along the state's borders with Punjab. Sanjay Kundu, the director general of police (DGP) for Himachal Pradesh, emphasized the importance of maintaining a vigilant stance to ensure the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.

During a recent high-level meeting, attended by superintendents of police from Himachal Pradesh's Una and Kangra districts, as well as counterparts from Punjab's Hoshiarpur, Ropar, and Nawanshahr districts, discussions centered on enhancing security coordination and information-sharing mechanisms. Given Himachal Pradesh's strategic borders with both Punjab and China, bolstering security protocols is crucial to preempt any potential disruptions from anti-social or anti-national elements, particularly during the electoral period.

DGP Kundu underscored the significance of inter-state police coordination, especially around sensitive areas like Pathankot, where military installations necessitate heightened security measures. The focus remains on upholding national security interests while facilitating a smooth and transparent electoral process.
