People are also looking for the need for sustainable urban development, along with water scarcity issues due to rapid urbanization, depletion of water bodies, and pollution. Environmental degradation, including air and water pollution, is a significant concern.

After independence, Bangalore's south constituency used to come under Mysore state. Mysore state was a state within the Union of India from 1947 until 1956. However, after the first Lok Sabha Elections, T Madiah Gowda, a freedom fighter, and a lawyer by profession won the election from Bangalore south constituency, following which under the States Reorganisation Act on 1 November 1956, few constituencies were added to Karnataka state. Not only this, Bangalore North and Bangalore South constituencies were merged to make the Bangalore constituency.
