Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Venkatesan S of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) won in the Tamil Nadu's Madurai constituency with a margin of 2,09,409 votes defeating Saravanan P of AIADMK.

Madurai Lok Sabha seat, is one of the 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. CPI(M)'s S Venkatesan won the Madurai seat in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 by defeating V. V. R. Raj Satyen of the AIADMK.

Caste Equation

The caste equation in Madurai is quite interesting with people from multiple communities exercising participation. Buddhists are 0.01 per cent, Christians are 0.32 per cent, Jains are 0.05 per cent, Muslims are 5.56 per cent, SCs are 13.5 per cent, STs are 0.4 per cent and Sikhs are 0.02 per cent.

Who won in 2019?

S. Venkatesan won the Madurai seat in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. He belongs to the CPI(M) and won with a vote share of 44.20 per cent. Meanwhile, V. V. R. Raj Satyen of the AIADMK was only able to garner 30.42 per cent.
