Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Shreyas M Patel of the Congress party won in the Karnataka's Hassan constituency with a margin of 42,649 votes defeating of the Prajwal Revanna of the Janata Dal (Secular).

Hassan Lok Sabha seat was earlier in Mysore, which was known as Hassan Chikmangalur. In the year 1957, this seat was recognized as Hassan under Mysore. After this, in 1974, Hassan seat became a part of Karnataka. Deve Gowda alone has won this Lok Sabha seat 5 times. He won the election twice on Janata Dal ticket and thrice on JDS ticket. Hassan Lok Sabha seat of Karnataka falls in the southern part of the state.

In the 2019 general elections, JD(S) candidate Prajwal Revanna won 52.96% of the total votes cast. Despite Manju A of the BJP managing to secure 41.90% of the total votes cast, Revanna prevailed. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, 79.1% of voters cast ballots. According to the 2011 Census, 89.86% of people in Hassan are literate. The literacy rates for men and women were 92.29% and 87.48%, respectively.

History of Hassan Lok Sabha seat

Hassan Lok Sabha constituency is in Karnataka, the southern state of India. HD Deve Gowda, the former Prime Minister of India represented the same from 1991 to 1994, 1998 to 1999 and again in 2004 and 2014. This constituency comprises Hassan district and Kaduru Taluk in Chikmagaluru district.
