Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi files nomination from Varanasi for third term

PM Narendra Modi files his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon. Prime Minister is eying his third term as MP from the constituency Varanasi will go to polls in the penultimate phase of the ongoing general elections on June 1. 

 

 

During nomination, CM Yogi was present with him. When PM Modi reached Varanasi DM's office, a huge crowd was waiting for him there. The PM greeted everyone and then went to the DM office for nomination. Before this, he offered prayers at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi. Prime Minister Modi will file his nomination for Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Varanasi at 11:40 am. BJP National President JP Nadda, several Union Ministers and CMs of 11 states were present in the PM's nomination.

Worshipped at Dashashwamedh Ghat

After worshiping at Dashashwamedh Ghat in the morning, PM reached Namo Ghat by cruise. After darshan at Kaal Bhairav ​​temple and permission from the Kotwal of Kashi, the PM will reach the Collectorate and file his nomination at 11:40 am. After nomination, he will also hold a meeting with party workers at Rudraksh Convention Centre.

PM's nomination includes BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, besides Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav,
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha are also present. 

BJP in Varanasi 

In the 2014 general elections, the BJP widened its lead in the constituency. Narendra Modi won from the seat for the first time as he secured more than 5.81 lakh votes and commanded a vote share of 59.37 per cent. Modi won from the seat by a majority of over 3.71 votes. 

Again in 2019, PM Modi won from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat with a thumping majority. In this election, Modi secured more than 6.74 lakh votes and a vote share of 63.62 per cent.
