Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Over 57 percent voter turnout recorded in Phase 6, West Bengal leads

Update: The Election Commission disclosed that the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections witnessed a combined voter turnout of 57.7 percent across 58 parliamentary constituencies by 5 pm.

West Bengal boasted the highest voter participation, with a turnout of 77.99 percent, followed by Jharkhand at 61.41 percent, Uttar Pradesh at 52.02 percent, Odisha at 59.60 percent, Jammu and Kashmir at 51.35 percent, Bihar at 52.24 percent, Haryana at 55.93 percent, and Delhi at 53.73 percent, according to official figures.



Update: By 3 PM, voter turnout reached 49.2% in the 6th phase of the elections.


Update: The voter turnout till 1 pm stands at 39.13%, according to Election Comission of India. 

Update: Till 11 AM, 25.8% voter turnout was recorded. The highest voter turnout in Phase 6 was recorded in West Bengal (36.9%) and the lowest turnout was reported from Odisha at 21.3%.

Update: Voting begins across 7 states, 1 UT on 58 seats. A total of 889 candidates are in the fray. The voting so far has been completed in 25 states and Union Territories, covering 428 constituencies out of the total 543. 


In the sixth phase, 58 seats spread across six states and two union territories will go to the polls in the penultimate round of the massive Lok Sabha contest. The Election Commission has made all necessary preparations to guarantee a peaceful and orderly voting process.

Eight seats in Bihar, all ten in Haryana, one in Jammu & Kashmir, four in Jharkhand, all seven in Delhi, six in Odisha, fourteen in Uttar Pradesh, and eight in West Bengal are up for election in the sixth round of the Lok Sabha polls. There are 889 candidates in the fray. Mock drills are ongoing at several voting centers.

42 Odisha assembly constituencies are reportedly also holding elections in the sixth phase. Statewide assembly elections are taking place in tandem with the Lok Sabha elections. In this phase, elections are scheduled for all of Delhi's and Haryana's parliamentary seats. Manohar Lal Khattar and Mehbooba Mufti, two former chief ministers, are among the well-known contenders.

Among the prominent candidates are Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan (Sambalpur) Rao Inderjit Singh (Gurugram) and Krishan Pal Gurjar (Faridabad), BJP's Maneka Gandhi (Sultanpur), Sambit Patra (Puri), Manoj Tiwari (North East Delhi), Abhijit Gangopadhyay (Tamluk) and Bansuri Swaraj (New Delhi) and Deepender Singh Hooda (Rohtak), Raj Babbar (Gurugram) and Kanhaiya Kumar of the Congress (North East Delhi).

The results of the elections will be declared on June 4.
