Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 40 percent voter turnout recorded till 1 pm, Bihar at lowest

More than 10.06 crore citizens, including approximately 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women and 3,574 third gender voters, are eligible to vote in the seventh phase.

Update: At 1 pm, 40 percent voter turnout was recorded across seven states and Chandigarh. Bihar recorded the lowest turnout of 35 percent while Himachal Pradesh recorded the highest at 48.6%. 


Update: The 57 seats voting in the last and the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 saw about 26 per cent voter turnout till 11 am. Himachal Pradesh recorded a voter turnout of about 32 per cent followed by Jharkhand with 30 per cent turnout till 11 am. 


Update: At 9 am, 11.3% voter turnout was recorded across 7 states and Chandigarh. Odisha recorded lowest voter turnout while Himachal Pradesh turnout the highest.

Update: Voting begins for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 seventh phase, voters in 57 constituencies across seven states will exercise their rigt in the final phase. PM Modi is seeking a third term in his constituency Varanasi. 


The seventh phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections will take place today, June 1. With this, the mammoth electoral excercise of the general elections will conclude on Saturday. Under the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha elections, voting will be held today (June 1) on 57 seats in 7 states and one union territory. Which also includes Varanasi seat, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting elections for the third consecutive time. Apart from this, voting is to be held on all 13 seats of Punjab, 4 of Himachal Pradesh, 13 of Uttar Pradesh, 9 of West Bengal, 8 of Bihar, 6 of Odisha and 3 seats of Jharkhand.

904 candidates in fray

On June 1, along with elections for the remaining 42 assembly seats of Odisha, by-elections are also to be held for 6 assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh. A total of 904 candidates are trying their luck in the seventh phase. In the last phase, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Lalu Prasad's daughter Misa Bharti, actress Kangana Ranaut, Ravi Kishan, Nishikant Dubey are also in the fray.

Lok Sabha Elections 

More than 10.06 crore citizens, including approximately 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women and 3,574 third gender voters, are eligible to vote in the seventh phase. With the voting on Saturday, the marathon voting process which started from April 19 will come to an end. So far, voting has taken place on 486 Lok Sabha seats in 28 states and union territories. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Prominent leaders in fray 

In the last phase, Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur from Hamirpur, Union Minister RK Singh from Arrah, Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary from Maharajganj, Union Minister Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey from Chandauli, Union Minister Anupriya Patel from Mirzapur and Jalandhar. Former Chief Minister of Punjab Charan Singh Channi is in the election fray. Four actors, Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Ravi Kishan and Kajal Nishad from Gorakhpur and Pawan Singh from Karakat Lok Sabha seat have entered the election fray to try their luck. Apart from these, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee is trying his luck from Diamond Harbour, NDA supremo Lalu Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti from Patlaputra seat, Afzal Ansari from Ghazipur and Vikramaditya Singh from Mandi. Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee and Lalu Yadav are certainly not in the electoral fray, but the credibility of both is at stake.

Lok Sabha Elections seventh phase 

In the seventh phase, 144 on 13 seats in UP, 328 on 13 seats in Punjab, P. 124 candidates are trying their luck on nine seats in Bengal, 134 on eight seats in Bihar, 66 on six seats in Odisha, 37 on four seats in Himachal, 52 on three seats in Jharkhand and 19 candidates are trying their luck on one seat in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. In this phase, 904 candidates are trying their electoral luck on 57 Lok Sabha seats. About 10.9 lakh election officers have been deployed on duty to conduct free and transparent voting for 57 parliamentary seats. In the final phase, more than 10.06 crore voters will be able to decide the fate of 904 candidates by casting their votes at 1.09 lakh polling stations. Among the total voters authorized for the seventh phase of voting, there are 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women and 3574 transgender voters.

Exit poll will start 

As per the guidelines of the Election Commission, television channels and newspapers will be able to show exit poll data and results after 6.30 pm on June 1. The Election Commission said that polling parties have been sent to their respective polling stations along with machines and election material. The Election Commission appealed to the voters to vote in large numbers. Let us tell you that the voting percentage in the first phase was 66.14 percent, in the second phase it was 66.71 percent, in the third phase it was 65.68 percent, in the fourth phase it was 69.16 percent, in the fifth phase it was 62.2 percent and in the sixth phase it was 63.36 percent.
