As the counting for the Lok Sabha Elections began at 8 am on Tuesday, the early trends by the Election Commission of India show that jailed pro-Khalistani separatist is leading with over 71 thousand votes from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib.

Amirtpal Singh who is contesting as independent candidate is leading ahead of Congress leader Kulbir Singh Zira of Congress, while the Aam Aadmi Party candidate is trailing. Notably, Amritpal was arrested by Punjab police in April last year, weeks after evading police after National Security Act was invoked against him.

Whereas on the other hand, Congress leader Jasbir Singh Gill in 2019 won the Khadoor Sahib seat. This time Congress nominated Kuldeep Singh Zira against BJP Manjit Singh Manna who is behind with over 1,32,755 votes. Laljit Singh Bhullar represents AAP and the Akali Dal is represented by Virsa Singh Valhota.

Notably, the results of the ongoing counting of the votes of the Lok Sabha Elections will be declared by the end of the day giving clarity on who will form the government.
