Lok Sabha Election Results: The boys from UP, i.e. UP Ke Do Ladke - Congress's Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav have done wonders in Uttar Pradesh, denting Narendra Modi-led government. Their political ground has been shaken in UP in such a way that it may take decades to create such a huge mass base again. It has become clear in UP that Ram Mandir is not an election issue. Nor did the support that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which did politics on Ram Mandir, was expecting, come true.

INDIA block's election promises outweighed Narendra Modi's guarantee. Till 2.35 pm, Samajwadi Party and Congress are dominating 46 seats in UP, while NDA alliance is stuck at 34 seats. These figures indicate that INDIA bloc's claims were not just claims. The claim of BJP leaders to cross 400 seats has just gone out of air.

BJP's seats kept falling!

Rahul Gandhi's statement on 'Khatakhat' was in a lot of discussion. He had said, 'Money will be given every month as soon as the INDIA bloc government is formed at the center. On July 4, Rs 8500 will go to their account. After this, on the first of every month, it will be inside.' People had made fun of this statement of Rahul Gandhi. Looking at the way BJP's seats have fallen, it seems that the 'Khatakhat' bet has backfired. In the 2017 assembly elections, the SP-Congress alliance against BJP was ineffective. This alliance had broken even before 2019. In 2024, when Congress-SP came together as INDIA block, the game was over. The political picture of entire UP changed.

Where did BJP go wrong?

Senior election analyst of UP and Congress leader Pramod Upadhyay claims that the people of UP were demanding employment. They had respect for Ram temple but it could not become an election issue. Employment, inflation, loan waiver, corruption were election issues in UP. Stray cattle were an election issue but the Centre did not pay any attention to it. They were taking the opposition lightly. The upper castes were also angry with the BJP. Narendra Modi was repeatedly claiming that he would sacrifice his life but would not end OBC reservation. This statement of his was repeatedly irritating the people. He tried to capitalise on OBC voters but the Muslim-Yadav formula of UP also proved to be too much for the BJP. Cancellation of tickets of many candidates also went against the BJP.
