New Delhi: In a surprising turn of events, Iqra Hasan has emerged victorious on the Kairana Lok Sabha seat, defeating BJP's Pradeep Chaudhary. Her journey from London to becoming a Member of Parliament in just two years is nothing short of remarkable.

Iqra Hasan’s triumph on the Kairana Lok Sabha seat has stunned many. This seat, historically dominated by the BJP, saw Iqra Hasan, representing the Samajwadi Party (SP), turn the tables. The BJP has held this seat three times, while Congress and SP have each won twice, and Janata Dal twice. This time, Iqra’s candidacy introduced new dynamics to the election.

Initial struggles and final success

The initial vote count saw Iqra trailing, but by noon, she had taken a lead that she maintained till the end. Her victory has not only changed the political landscape of Kairana but has also highlighted the changing voter sentiments in the region.

Historical rivalries and present contest

The 2024 elections saw Pradeep Chaudhary, a seasoned politician, once again representing the BJP. Pradeep’s political journey includes winning the Gangoh assembly seat in 2012 as a Congress candidate and then as a BJP candidate in 2017. In 2019, he defeated Tabassum Hasan by 92,000 votes in Kairana. This year, the contest between Pradeep Chaudhary and the Hasan family continued, with Iqra Hasan emerging victorious.
