Former Congress president and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi expressed optimism regarding the Lok Sabha election results, asserting that they anticipate a reversal from the predictions made by exit polls. Speaking to the media after commemorating former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's 100th birth anniversary, Sonia Gandhi conveyed their hopeful outlook, stating, "Just wait and watch. We are very hopeful that our results are completely the opposite of what the exit polls are showing."
Most exit polls have forecasted the continuation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure, with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) expected to secure a majority in the Lok Sabha election. Several polls have projected the NDA to win over 400 seats, while the majority predict a range between 350 to 380 seats. Dismissing these forecasts, Congress and other opposition parties have criticized the exit polls, denouncing them as biased and unsubstantiated.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dismissed the exit polls as 'manufactured at home' two months prior. On the other hand, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi labeled them as a 'Modi media poll,' suggesting a biased portrayal. Despite the exit poll projections, Congress leaders have confidently asserted that the opposition alliance would secure 295 seats and form the government.
