A video circulating rapidly on social media platforms has sparked uproar regarding the integrity of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The footage purportedly shows a young man casting his vote eight times at a polling booth, specifically on the BJP symbol. The incident allegedly occurred in Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh, adding fuel to the ongoing debate over electoral practices.

In the viral video, the young man is seen proudly displaying eight fingers, indicating that he has cast his vote for the BJP eight times consecutively. Such actions blatantly violate Election Commission regulations, which strictly prohibit individuals from voting more than once and prohibit the use of electronic devices inside polling booths.

Political backlash after video goes viral

The dissemination of the video has triggered a flurry of responses from various political figures. Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, sharing the video on X, criticized the Election Commission, urging it to take action against any potential wrongdoing. Accusations of electoral malpractice have been directed at the BJP, with claims that certain booth committees are exploiting the voting process for personal gain.

The Congress party, through its social media channels, has also raised concerns about the incident. Congress leader Alka Lamba took to Instagram to question the Chief Election Commissioner's response to the video, insinuating that the Election Commission's integrity may have been compromised.

Akhilesh demands investigation

Akhilesh Yadav stated that if the Election Commission perceives this as improper, it should take corrective action; otherwise, the BJP's booth committee appears to function as a loot committee.

As the video continues to circulate, demands for a thorough investigation into the alleged incident are growing louder. Many citizens and political figures are urging the Election Commission to address the matter promptly and ensure the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.
