In a recent setback for the Congress party, Akshay Kanti Bam, a prominent leader, decided to withdraw his nomination from the Indore constituency just before the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress had initially nominated Bam to contest against the incumbent BJP MP Shankar Lalwani for the Indore Lok Sabha seat, which is scheduled for polling on May 13 during the fourth phase of elections. pic.twitter.com/1isbdLXphb— Kailash Vijayvargiya (Modi Ka Parivar) (@KailashOnline) April 29, 2024Following Bams withdrawal, Kailash Vijayvargiya, a senior BJP leader and MLA from Indore, extended a warm welcome to Bam, inviting him to join the BJP. Vijayvargiya expressed his delight at Bams decision, mentioning prominent leaders like PM Narendra Modi, National President JP Nadda, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and State President VD Sharma, and indicating a supportive environment within the BJP for Bams inclusion. He shared this news on X (formerly Twitter) along with a photo of himself with Bam inside a car. This development is reminiscent of another incident earlier this month when Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani from Surat withdrew his candidature. Kumbhanis nomination was rejected after the district returning officer identified discrepancies in the signatures of his proposers. Subsequently, Suresh Padsala, the partys substitute candidate for the Surat seat, also faced rejection of his nomination form. These events underscore the ongoing dynamics and challenges faced by political parties during the election season.
