The 2024 Lok Sabha election results in Tamil Nadu have stirred up controversy within the state's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party's state president K Annamalai has come under intense fire following BJP's disappointing performance in the state. Senior BJP leader Kalyana Raman has openly criticized Annamalai, labeling him as a 'Traitor of Hindutva' and accusing him of being a 'pathological liar.'

Allegations against Annamalai

In a series of posts on the microblogging platform X, Kalyana Raman launched a scathing attack on Annamalai. He questioned Annamalai's credentials, claiming that despite his self-proclaimed achievements of reading 20,000 books, handling 2 lakh cases, dealing with 600 rape cases, and serving as an IPS officer for 10 years, he remains dubious. Kalyana Raman also alleged that Annamalai has engaged in underhand dealings and benefited from attacking the opposition party, DMK.

Killed possible Hindu:  Kalyana Raman

He emphasized that Annamalai's aggressive tactics against the DMK were not commendable, as they potentially compromised the party's integrity. Furthermore, he urged Annamalai's supporters to recognize the reality of his actions and not idolize him as something he is not.

His X post reads, "As a matter of fact, he is a traitor of Hindutva and killed possible Hindu awakening with his affidavit before the honorable high court that killed 2022 October Hindu awakening by succumbing to the lure of SB who's interest he wanted to protect for a hefty consideration." Kalyan Raman added.

Furthermore, he alleged that Annamalai betrayed the principles of Hindutva and thwarted potential Hindu resurgence by submitting an affidavit to the honorable high court in October 2022, which undermined the Hindu awakening, yielding to the temptations of SB, whose interests he sought to safeguard for substantial compensation.

He also said, "Annamalai is a Traitor of Hindutva."

Party's response after Lok Sabha results

These accusations come amidst warnings from senior BJP leaders, such as former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundarajan, who cautioned against tarnishing the image of party leaders. The BJP leadership faces mounting pressure to address these allegations and restore unity within the party ranks.

After BJP's loss in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai stated that BJP had expanded its voter base in the state, indicating that the populace affirmed the party's positive trajectory. He expressed determination that the party would redouble its efforts to secure victory in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
