Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stirred controversy while on the campaign trail in Banmankhi, Purnia, indirectly targeting the Lalu family. His remarks, highlighted nepotism and corruption, have sparked outrage among opposition parties. Kumar criticized Lalu Prasad Yadav's succession of family members into politics, citing instances of alleged nepotism.

Taking a jibe at Lalu's family, Bihar CM stated that some people claim everything these days. Earlier, they appointed their spouse as CM now they its their children.  'Ab paida to bahut kar diya. Itna zyaada paida karna chahiye kisi ko, baal baccha?'  (Should anyone give birth to so many children?) 

He added that they forget the old things, that is why I am telling telling that no work used to get done. People were unable to get out from their homes. There were no roads for transportation. 

JDU spokesperson criticizes nepotism

Echoing Nitish Kumar's sentiments, JDU spokesperson Parimal Kumar condemned the prevalence of nepotism and corruption within the RJD.

The real fight, according to Rajiv Pratap Rudy

Former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, representing Saran in the Parliament, redirected attention to the core issue: Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rudy accused the Lalu family of nepotism and lamented the dearth of competitive candidates within the RJD, necessitating the reliance on familial ties for electoral representation.

RJD's response to Nitish's allegations

In response to Nitish Kumar's remarks, RJD leader Misa Bharti expressed bewilderment, suggesting that Bihar's populace would discern the intent behind Kumar's statements. Meanwhile, RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed rebuked Nitish Kumar's choice of language, deeming it disrespectful and indicative of the NDA's growing apprehension after the initial phase of voting.

Congress weighs in

Congress spokesperson Gyan Ranjan critiqued Nitish Kumar's focus on the Lalu family, interpreting it as a diversion from substantive issues concerning Bihar's development. Ranjan insinuated a disconnect between Kumar and the state's grassroots, questioning his relevance as Bihar's representative.

Nitish Kumar's recent remarks underscore the simmering tensions within Bihar's political landscape, foregrounding contentious issues of nepotism and governance ahead of critical electoral contests.
