AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has announced a new alliance between his party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The partnership between AIMIM and AIADMK extends beyond the national elections to include collaboration in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Owaisi's decision to form this alliance follows closely on the heels of AIADMK's recent decision to break ties with the BJP, citing the sentiments of its party members and constituents. Despite their historical association, AIADMK has expressed a firm stance against aligning with the BJP in current and future elections.
AIADMK has refused to ally with BJP and has committed to never allying with it in the future. It has also assured that it will oppose CAA, NPR & NRC. Therefore, AIMIM extends its support to AIADMK in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Our alliance will also continue for the Assembly…
Taking to the microblogging platform X, Owaisi announced the alliance, stating, "AIADMK has refused to ally with BJP and has committed to never allying with it in the future. It has also assured that it will oppose CAA, NPR & NRC."
He added that AIMIM extends its support to AIADMK in the coming Lok Sabha elections and the alliance will also continue for the Assembly polls.
Owaisi used this opportunity to criticize the central government's enactment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), labeling it as "unconstitutional." He condemned the BJP for passing a law that discriminates based on religion, going so far as to tear a copy of the CAA bill in Parliament as a gesture of protest.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place over seven phases, beginning on April 19 and concluding on June 1, with results anticipated on June 4. Tamil Nadu, with its 39 Lok Sabha seats, will conduct its election on April 19 in a single phase.
This alliance between AIMIM and AIADMK signifies a united front against the CAA, NPR, and NRC, reinforcing their partnership for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
