DRDO Internship 2025: Everything you need to know about eligibility, application

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) offers internships to students aiming to gain hands-on experience in defense research and development. These internships provide an opportunity to work alongside esteemed scientists and contribute to projects of national significance.

Types of Internships:

Summer Internship: 6 to 8 weeks during May and June, focusing on short-term research projects.
Semester Internship: 3 to 4 months, aligned with academic breaks, allowing deeper involvement in DRDO's research areas.
Project-based Internship: 3 to 6 months, where students engage in specialized defense projects, offering extensive research exposure. 

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality: Indian citizen.
Age: Between 19 and 28 years.
Academic Qualifications: Pursuing or recently completed BE/BTech/BSc/ME/MTech with at least 60% marks in relevant fields.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge in the chosen field of internship. 

Application Process:

Identify a DRDO laboratory: With over 50 labs across India, select one that aligns with your research interests.
Check for Openings: Visit the specific lab's section on the DRDO website or contact them directly to inquire about available internship positions.
Prepare Application Documents: Compile your resume, academic transcripts, a cover letter detailing your motivation, and letters of recommendation if required.
Submit Application: Apply online or via email as per the lab's guidelines before the specified deadline.
Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates may undergo a technical interview to assess their suitability for the role. 
Stipend and Certification: Interns may receive a stipend ranging from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 per month, depending on the nature of the internship. Upon successful completion, a DRDO Internship Certificate is awarded, enhancing the intern's professional credentials.

Additional Considerations:

Application Submission: It's advisable to apply through the Head of your College/Institute directly to the Director of the concerned DRDO lab. 
Security Clearance: Interns are typically granted access only to unclassified areas and information.
Employment Post-Internship: Completion of the internship does not obligate DRDO to offer employment.
