Today, while Mehrotra is heading one of the largest American companies, there was a time when America had rejected his visa application thrice.

Why Sanjay Mehrotra’ visa got rejected?

Mehrotra during an interview said that it was his father's dream that he should go to America for higher studies. He said that even though we were from the middle class, his father dreamt big for him.

He had stated that he had filed for an American visa after finishing his education. In India, just 11 years of high school education were needed for entrance to a college; in the United States, this need is 12 years. I was therefore denied my visa for the first time.

He solely studied in India after that. In his second year of college, he was accepted to California University, but he was not yet eighteen. As a result, the visa application was turned down a second time.

He had mentioned that my father had advised against accepting defeat. I reapplied, but this time it was turned down as well. In this way my visa application was refused thrice.
