Sydney-bound passengers injured after mid-air turbulence on an Air India flight

According to the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), several passengers on board a Delhi-Sydney Air India flight sustained injuries after the aircraft encountered severe turbulence mid-air on Tuesday. Air India B 787-800 aircraft VT-ANY operating flight AI 302 (Delhi-Sydney) encountered severe turbulence. It was also informed that seven passengers have reported minor injuries.

Reportedly, the incident took place on May 16 and injured passengers received medical assistance on arrival at the Sydney airport. However, no passengers have been hospitalised in the incident. Emergency first aid to the injured passengers was administered by the Air India crew.

One of the Air India officials also confirmed that the medical assistance on the flight was given by a doctor and a nurse who was travelling as a passenger, using the onboard first-aid kit. The medical assistance was given to the injured after they arrived in Sydney, reportedly, only three of them availed the assistance. However, no official statement has come from Air India.

Other incident in Air India flight

Earlier, in April also, in a rare incident, a scorpion stung a passenger on board our flight AI 630.  The female passenger was given medical assistance as soon as the flight landed and was also attended by a doctor and subsequently was treated at the hospital and discharged. After this, Air India also apologised for the inconvenience to the passenger.
