Sachin-backed Azad Engineering signs pact with Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce inked deal with Sachin Tendulkar funded Azad Engineering to produce defense aero-engine components in India on Monday. According to the information, the long-term agreement has been done to manufacture and supply ‘complex components’ for military aircraft engines.

According to the information, Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering will join the global supply chain for complex category components for Rolls-Royce's technologically advanced aero engines, through this strategic partnership. The components will be manufactured at the Hyderabad facilities.

Rolls-Royce is a major force in the market for defensive aerospace engines. Indian military aircraft are currently powered by about 750 Rolls-Royce engines, spanning ten different engine classes. Rolls-Royce has operations in more than 50 countries globally and has customers in more than 150 countries.

Alex Zino, the executive vice president of Rolls-Royce's Business Development and Future Programmes division, while speaking on it said, "As we work towards strengthening the defence ecosystem, we are happy to expand our supply chain in India in partnership with Azad Engineering," said.

The company, which got listed in December last year and has Tendulkar on board as an investor, will join global supply chain for highly complex and critical rotating components for military engines.

Meanwhile, Rakesh Chopdar, founder and CEO, Azad Engineering, also asserted that the company is looking forward to the partnership to make critical and complex components for defense aircraft engines.

"Bringing these critical components to India not only showcases the capabilities of Azad Engineering, but also represents a pivotal moment for India's aerospace and defence industry, demonstrating the country's growing prowess in advanced manufacturing," he said.

Azad Engineering is one of the key manufacturers of product lines in areas of aerospace, defense, energy and oil and gas industries.
