On Tuesday (September 26), the petrol and diesel remained constant in most parts of the country. The latest price notification issued by fuel retailers showed. However, minor fluctuations have been observed from state to state in India.

According to the latest oil rates announced by Indian oil companies, the e petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 96.72 a litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 a litre. Whereas in Mumbai, petrol is available at Rs 106.31 and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre. While petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 and diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre. On the other hand, petrol is being sold at Rs 102.63 and diesel at Rs 94.24 per litre in Chennai.

According to the sources, the price in the international market, Brent crude oil is crossing $93.18 per barrel. Despite fluctuations in the price of crude oil, the prices of petrol and diesel in the Indian market have remained stable for a long time.

The oil prices have been constant since May 21, 2021, and are announced every day at 6 am. However, sometimes it fluctuates from state to state owing to the varied Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges, local taxes, etc.

Moreover, in 2021, the union government reduced the central excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre respectively.
