On Wednesday, the oil marketing companies have kept the prices of petrol and diesel fairly unchanged in almost all major cities.The petrol prices hovered at ₹106.31 a litre in Mumbai, ₹96.72 in New Delhi, ₹106.03 in Kolkata and ₹102.63 per litre in Chennai. The diesel prices stood at ₹94.24 in Chennai, ₹94.27 in Mumbai, ₹92.76 in Kolkata, and ₹89.62 in New Delhi respectively. In Hyderabad, the rates of petrol and diesel stood at ₹109.66 per litre and ₹97.82 per litre respectively, as of September 16, 2023. In Lucknow, the rates were quoted at ₹96.57 a litre for petrol and ₹89.76 per litre for diesel.It should be noted that the rates for each day, whether they are changed or stable, are announced everyday at 6AM. This was the period when the Union government had reduced the central excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹8 per litre and ₹6 per litre respectively.
