On Wednesday, the oil marketing companies have kept the prices of petrol and diesel fairly unchanged in almost all major cities.
The petrol prices hovered at ₹106.31 a litre in Mumbai, ₹96.72 in New Delhi, ₹106.03 in Kolkata and ₹102.74 per litre in Chennai. The diesel prices stood at ₹94.33 in Chennai, ₹94.27 in Mumbai, ₹92.76 in Kolkata, and ₹89.62 in New Delhi respectively.
For the unversed, in India, petrol and diesel prices undergo revision every day and the rates are announced daily at 6AM.
Meanwhile, both petrol and diesel prices have stayed more or less unchanged since May 21, 2021. This was the period when the Union government had reduced the central excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹8 per litre and ₹6 per litre respectively.
