As tomatoes price are instantly skyrocketing day by day in the entire country, it has left many consumers concerned. There have been several reasons that affected the price of this vegetable, From prevailing heatwaves to heavy downpours, everything is causing a huge damage to the tomatoes, resulting in a five-fold increase in prices this year. Now, there has been something that has shocked several, and now going viral over the internet. Amid the price hike, a photo of McDonald’s notice stating that it is suspending the use of tames in its food product has gone viral. 

McDonald’s suspends use of tomatoes amid its price hike

The post is shared by a SEBI Registered Investment Advisor, Aditya Shah on his Twitter handle. The viral circular titled, ‘Temporary Unavailability of Tomatoes’ was issued by the fast-food chain on their letterhead. It stated that McDonald’s is facing difficulties in affording tomatoes and hence they are “forced to serve” food items without the kitchen staple.

The circular also added, “We are ever committed to serve you the best food with the best of ingredients. Despite our best efforts, we are not able to get adequate quantities of tomatoes which pass our world-class stringent quality checks.”

Concluding its notice, McDonald’s said, “Hence for the time being we are forced to serve you products without tomatoes. Rest assured; we are working to get the tomatoes supplies back.”

Netizens’ reaction 

Since the post has been shared by Mr Shah, it has garnered over 53,000 views. One of the users said, “That’s a tomato Supremacy, Itna toh Onion k time Pe Bhi Nhi Kiya tha.”

“Wow! Never seen this before,” stated another person. 

“As if they put 1 kg tomato in one Burger,” remarked a user.

 Another user said, “Jokes apart, this is standard for McDonald’s to not serve tomatoes during the rainy season since tomatoes quality is not up to the mark.”

Meanwhile, apart from tomatoes, prices of cauliflower, ginger, and green chilli are hurting the budgets of consumers.
