Industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani has stepped down from Reliance Industries Limited’s board of directors today (August 28), making a way for children Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani as directors to be on the board of the oil-to-telecoms.

Nita Ambani resigns from RIL of broad of directors

An official statement issued by the company said, “The Board of Directors of RIL, at its meeting on Monday, on the recommendation of the Human Resources, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, considered and recommended to the shareholders for approval of the appointment of Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani and Anant Ambani as Non-Executive Directors of the Company. Their appointment will take effect from the date they assume office after approval by the shareholders.”

Moreover, the Board of Directors also accepted the resignation of Nita Ambani from the Board respecting her decision to devote her energies and time to guide and enable Reliance Foundation to make an even greater impact on the country.

Board hails Nita’s leadership as Founder Chairperson

While accepting her resignation, the board also appreciated her tenure as its Founder Chairperson. They hailed Nita’s request to focus more on strengthening RF as it embarks on a mission to achieve even greater societal transformation by undertaking a host of new programmes and initiatives.

As the chairperson, Nita Ambani will attend all the RIL Board meetings as a permanent invitee to the board so that the company can benefit from her advice in the future as well.

Meanwhile, Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani and Anant Ambani have been closely involved with the company and leading the key businesses of the giant for the past few years, including retail, digital services and other businesses. Further, they also serve as the boards of the key subsidiaries of the RIL. Their appointment to the Board of RIL will enable the company to gain from their insights and infuse new ideas, the Board said in a statement.
